  • The Holy Spirit Bible Study

This Bible study looks at the Holy Spirit in Scripture, beginning with the Old Testament and moving through the New Testament. In seven sessions we examine: the role of the Holy Spirit in creation; how authority and power come from the Spirit; how the Spirit worked in the lives of the prophets; the Spirit as the giver of wisdom, guidance, and truth; the Spirit as part of the Trinity, empowerment and the Spirit ; and finally, the Spirit in lives of Christian believers.

Please contact Brenda Romero (365-3759) to order a study guide or to sign up for the Tuesday morning (9-10:30am) or Thursday evening (6:05-7:35) discussion group. Sessions begin September 10th & 12th respectively.

  • Franciscan University at Home now available

The Diocese of Lafayette has partnered with Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, to give everyone in the diocese access to workshops that can help in their religious formation. Although some of the workshops are geared toward teachers, many simply give information on topics that many of us want to know more about (i.e. the Eucharist, Mary, New Testament, Old Testament). All you have to do is go to our homepage and select Franciscian University at home on the right hand side & create your own account. The office of Catechetics has a short 3 minute video on their webpage that will direct you on how to create an account. Our parish has already been placed in the system, so all you have to do is create your personal account. We believe this is a wonderful opportunity for us to grow in our faith.

  • Online Giving now available for Nativity

Nativity of Our Lady now offers Online Giving, a web-based electronic contribution application. We are providing this service so that you have the option to manage your contributions online or with your offering envelopes. This service is safe and secure. And it is convenient for you and for our parish staff. You can use your checking account, saving account, Visa or MasterCard! Sign up for Online Giving by visiting our home page and selecting the Online Giving link on the right-hand side of the homepage.

  • Msgr. Romero's Introduction

Msgr. J. Robert Romero Pastor of

Nativity of Our Lady, New Iberia

To my surprise Bishop Deshotel asked me to be the Pastor of Nativity of Our Lady in New Iberia. Bishop Deshotel has made the appointment effective July 1, 2019. I regret I am not going to be on site until July 12th, in time for the weekend of July 13 and 14, 2019. I had vacation-planned beginning on June 25, 2019. I am grateful to Father Gene Tremie and Father Ed Degeyter, helping with masses and confessions in my absence.

A little about myself: I am a native of Abbeville, Louisiana. I am the eldest of six children. I have four brothers and one sister. I have nieces and nephews. I am 44 years a priest. I have served in Church Point, New Iberia, Loreauville, Cow Island with missions, Ville Platte, Opelousas, Eunice, and Duralde. I have also served as Episcopal Vicar of the North Region, Diocese of Lafayette. [Now we have Deaneries.] I am glad to return to New Iberia, as I served at St. Edward Parish as Parochial Vicar in the late seventies and early eighties. Nativity is the tenth parish I am assigned. In Ville Platte I was pastor of 2 parishes. While in Eunice, I was also pastor of the Parish in Duralde.

While the move to return to New Iberia is unexpected, I look forward to meeting parishioners. I look forward to being with you.

    Rev. Msgr. J. Robert Romero
